I'm home this morning waiting for Catholic Charities to come pick up some stuff. We didn't sell some things at our garage sale so we're donating them. I'm sure they'll be put to good use.
Lots of good memories with this baby gear! Miss those little baby days!
So I got the inner border sewn onto Annabelle's quilt. I really like this orange polka dot.
This is the biggest quilt I have made to date. It's going to be around twin size. I'm
very a little concerned about quilting it with my machine but I'm just going to take my time and do it section by section. I've done stippling before but never very well.
Sarah has a great
machine-quilting tutorial that I studied yesterday, then practiced it myself. I really like the way hers comes out so I tried to emulate her. It's not nearly as good as hers but better than I have been doing.
My stitches aren't perfectly even so I have to work on that. But I want to branch out from my safe straight-line quilting so I will keep plugging along! I'm waiting for the outer border fabric to arrive anyway so this gives me a chance to practice some more.
Enjoy your day friends! Catch you later...

Your free motion is MUCH better than mine! Good job! I'll have to read the tutorial you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt and your quilting looks great! I am going to check out the tutorial myself!

It looks great Jen! Seriously, I wish (or don't wish) that you could see my first stippling attempts. You'd laugh. What really helps me now with even stitches is that I can adjust the speed of my machine. I can slow it down in 1/4 speed increments. So I slow it down one notch and then floor the foot pedal. It's helpful because one of the hardest things for me is keeping even pressure on the foot pedal. Just thought I'd mention it in case you can adjust the speed on your machine. If not, then I'm lying, it's really not that helpful. hehe x
ReplyDeleteI think your quilting looks fabulous!!! Way to go! :)
