Yup, it's been a while, hasn't it? I finally have something to post, though. I finished the Cozy Cottages BOM from Sh<a href="http://www.shabbyfabrics.com/" target="_blank">abby Fabrics</a> yesterday! OK I do have to add a label but otherwise it's done. I took some photos this morning that I'd love to share with you.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA5Dxr_rGzViz9cYcLBk6LhEQ99OyQhzmduH0pn_IY4BAppOiShWIO1hf9OtgHfR_kj0VQemp6w_evfbXIrfq3mvjXR4GP7d65SPfPaHBNX1o6WbvYcOFUBWYpwSW5yI8HMR6I_8uayJQ/s1600/DSCN4235.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA5Dxr_rGzViz9cYcLBk6LhEQ99OyQhzmduH0pn_IY4BAppOiShWIO1hf9OtgHfR_kj0VQemp6w_evfbXIrfq3mvjXR4GP7d65SPfPaHBNX1o6WbvYcOFUBWYpwSW5yI8HMR6I_8uayJQ/s320/DSCN4235.JPG" width="299" /></a></div>
I almost bound it in a green print, but then I got a yard of this aqua fabric from <a href="http://daisycottagequilting.com/" target="_blank">Sharon</a> and I thought it went better. You can sort of see it better in the next pic.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Here are a few more pics just for fun!<br />

<br />
I also made a few wool felt candle mats from <a href="http://www.colonialcrafts.com/manufacturer/Patterns/2798" target="_blank">Penny Lane Primitives</a>. In my last post, I showed you the images from the website, as well as the patterns and bundle that I received. Don't you just love her patterns?? I find handwork so relaxing. Plus working with wool is great...it doesn't unravel, and it just takes embroidery floss so well. Know what I mean? Anyway, here's the first one...the pattern is called "Spring." I bought the kit for this one since I didn't really have lighter-color wools. <a href="http://www.colonialcrafts.com/index.php" target="_blank">Colonial Crafts</a> was very generous with the amount of wool felt they sent...I had plenty left over. The following pictures are mine:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLu9u5I0WHGlfl4lubmR_ovrRAyu4lsiDS24QksdBckgHFJz-U1o6fdYWuliPLPvnvfwS6UIs9bhodmYTsBqziqyh0-6pRNvRDuPHRYK-WHkOEq8R9eAfAlPksf8V3hWF-rTubt5SA11g/s1600/DSCN4194.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="264" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLu9u5I0WHGlfl4lubmR_ovrRAyu4lsiDS24QksdBckgHFJz-U1o6fdYWuliPLPvnvfwS6UIs9bhodmYTsBqziqyh0-6pRNvRDuPHRYK-WHkOEq8R9eAfAlPksf8V3hWF-rTubt5SA11g/s320/DSCN4194.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHXZgmSsMCZPDcY_k4TO8bGlZRSgrMLtN6fD_f6uA5KyJ9z4Ki2MHoZVcwEp18-CQGHpZC_QW56-nQMhwxcPqvzvPijjgRfCXaf3Cl1F824gTplh40Y-aveCGCjQ62PbbEfuX6sDMWFcQ/s1600/DSCN4196.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHXZgmSsMCZPDcY_k4TO8bGlZRSgrMLtN6fD_f6uA5KyJ9z4Ki2MHoZVcwEp18-CQGHpZC_QW56-nQMhwxcPqvzvPijjgRfCXaf3Cl1F824gTplh40Y-aveCGCjQ62PbbEfuX6sDMWFcQ/s320/DSCN4196.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And the second one is called "Penny Sheep." I didn't buy the kit but I did buy a bundle of primitive-color felt bundle.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ09hL4LNZdZti3Yyi4Um7bH4Q2fxz609te3VRUKiir61Ut7_OrpLoWQNhHjanSXiMTCL0_NraP0Q95rCqeDEOu24Lxc6vYR93U8FxLV8vQA1CYouCwiDX7joN58Vk7izGiRp5H-YrFd4/s1600/penny+sheep.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="201" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ09hL4LNZdZti3Yyi4Um7bH4Q2fxz609te3VRUKiir61Ut7_OrpLoWQNhHjanSXiMTCL0_NraP0Q95rCqeDEOu24Lxc6vYR93U8FxLV8vQA1CYouCwiDX7joN58Vk7izGiRp5H-YrFd4/s320/penny+sheep.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Now I'm starting another embroidery project I got from Sharon. I'll be sure to show you when it's finished! Have a wonderful day!<br />

How are you doing? All's well here...the kids had last week off for February Break. There's a question around here as to why this break is needed...it was started in the 70s during the energy crisis, to try to save the schools money. But 40 years later, the break still goes on. It just seems like it's unnecessary and interrupts the learning process. But hey, ask the kids and you get a different answer!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.beta.photobucket.com/user/belliebuddie2004/media/Blog/Blog_Divider_shabbymissjenndesigns_zps78b79f66.png.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo Blog_Divider_shabbymissjenndesigns_zps78b79f66.png" border="0" height="35" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/Blog/Blog_Divider_shabbymissjenndesigns_zps78b79f66.png" width="320" /></a>
</div>
I finished blocks 11 and 12 from the house quilt, yaay! Here they are, November and December:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBIbgMsouzUymPyuUSuqXhsFB4r_p8NvMQRchHBBQ0G4HyNXn8kWjSPyvcpJRDvKAxQsp1U2QigpmImWb_TKvF-gIbL4Tqkax0NprozBOzYi6Vr1du1mUfiq3usC9oJBiPenLD4DgV0hc/s1600/DSCN4164.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBIbgMsouzUymPyuUSuqXhsFB4r_p8NvMQRchHBBQ0G4HyNXn8kWjSPyvcpJRDvKAxQsp1U2QigpmImWb_TKvF-gIbL4Tqkax0NprozBOzYi6Vr1du1mUfiq3usC9oJBiPenLD4DgV0hc/s320/DSCN4164.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am really digging November's block. I love the colors, and the mix of cottons and wool!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyxG6PSH41P9uoAl48oT3O2XWp8v8GyyQ5oHx5M5tzNSx-qUX-lKLH2g4aHBOlfHIPp1vuibVAc-Yty9jpO8pkC1bwtjBLG50mA0x2RRpuYXEqA3Jj9pszLLjo6H1Q53cm8RlMDRefGKc/s1600/DSCN4166.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="304" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyxG6PSH41P9uoAl48oT3O2XWp8v8GyyQ5oHx5M5tzNSx-qUX-lKLH2g4aHBOlfHIPp1vuibVAc-Yty9jpO8pkC1bwtjBLG50mA0x2RRpuYXEqA3Jj9pszLLjo6H1Q53cm8RlMDRefGKc/s320/DSCN4166.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to do something different than the expected red and green. These go better with the whole quilt, anyway.</div>
<br />
And here are all of them, laid out together:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCN_N-lLenmBkSDGB08bnrwf8_IBRb6Vl-5gplhUAg5sqDr5WogVtFIRIe5XVxB4goAlBnCBkH_85RNzcKrSa-6zyEPbr0M8s7pCNeCL8GmEIJAlyIcoWyOqs2eFjeN14107RMn5rxIjg/s1600/DSCN4172.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCN_N-lLenmBkSDGB08bnrwf8_IBRb6Vl-5gplhUAg5sqDr5WogVtFIRIe5XVxB4goAlBnCBkH_85RNzcKrSa-6zyEPbr0M8s7pCNeCL8GmEIJAlyIcoWyOqs2eFjeN14107RMn5rxIjg/s320/DSCN4172.JPG" width="276" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm pleased with the way they've turned out. Trying to figure out my favorite. I keep looking at November!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjyv4i6_b7aK1gdut-rT6v8Bt7L5iaKCzeoGosM0sMZKOtIBNxN_zBIUFVM7Sl2D_SFIs8JtdU86Nnn1B_R0e3MFIa43cxLMaX-M5JiWud_CE-tdmWoonaDvXMjBPSDuJxIV6i6TT6eNE/s1600/DSCN4173.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="181" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjyv4i6_b7aK1gdut-rT6v8Bt7L5iaKCzeoGosM0sMZKOtIBNxN_zBIUFVM7Sl2D_SFIs8JtdU86Nnn1B_R0e3MFIa43cxLMaX-M5JiWud_CE-tdmWoonaDvXMjBPSDuJxIV6i6TT6eNE/s320/DSCN4173.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's a closer look at the first six...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF40tO5WCNd___Pv6gplvizKm66lHylGhUEncNJpfyo5PMqysyOxVBwIub6Mv1-6nZtIPaWewuP9bhL8_T-V1IRplAKSBi-qy78-RXWSWb0DGjYiJ34-Dqr14e4Tpf_c3fPV_UHX7uOZo/s1600/DSCN4174.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgF40tO5WCNd___Pv6gplvizKm66lHylGhUEncNJpfyo5PMqysyOxVBwIub6Mv1-6nZtIPaWewuP9bhL8_T-V1IRplAKSBi-qy78-RXWSWb0DGjYiJ34-Dqr14e4Tpf_c3fPV_UHX7uOZo/s320/DSCN4174.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
...and the last six.</div>
<br />
I have some fabrics picked out for the sashing, borders, and cornerstones. I forgot to take a picture of them but they're pinks, yellows and blues. I think it will look nice. I couldn't decide when to add the embellishments...after it's all quilted? But then you'll see the threads on the back. After the top is all sewn together? Then it's bulky and a pain to work with. So I'm sewing them on now, pre-put together. I may regret this later but I really didn't know what the perfect solution would be. What do you do?<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.beta.photobucket.com/user/belliebuddie2004/media/Blog/Blog_Divider_shabbymissjenndesigns_zps78b79f66.png.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo Blog_Divider_shabbymissjenndesigns_zps78b79f66.png" border="0" height="35" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/Blog/Blog_Divider_shabbymissjenndesigns_zps78b79f66.png" width="320" /></a></div>
I don't know about you, but I'm really looking forward to Spring. I've been eyeing this candle mat kit on the <a href="https://www.colonialcrafts.com/" target="_blank">Colonial Crafts website</a> for a year...<br />

They have the best wool felt bundles and coordinating patterns. Service is super fast too! My aunt used to go to their store when she travelled in New England, but I think they just have an online business now. It's wonderful, check it out when you get a chance!<br />

Take care my friends...off to do some housework.<br />

How's everyone been? I've been crafty lately, believe it or not! It's funny, I went into Joann's a week or so ago and the manager said, "Wow, we haven't seen you in a while!" LOL Anyway it's nice to have some time to get some crafting done. I've missed it! <br />

I've been trying to catch up on my <a href="http://www.shabbyfabrics.com/Free-Patterns-W4.aspx" target="_blank">Country Cottages BOM</a>. I got August through October done (minus the embellishments, of course).<br />

By the way, if you're interested in doing this BOM, I think they're leaving it up til March on their website. After that the patterns will be for sale. I printed all the final months/finishing instructions out already.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.beta.photobucket.com/user/belliebuddie2004/media/7-1_zpsa1802321.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 7-1_zpsa1802321.jpg" border="0" height="81" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/7-1_zpsa1802321.jpg" width="320" /></a>
</div>
I also got the cutest purse pattern and couldn't wait to make it. It's called <a href="http://www.thisandthatpatterns.com/patterns_bags.php" target="_blank">"To Market," from This & That Patterns.</a> This is a picture from their website.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0TJ99xalgQ-ch3unzR4fInyqPQ3qsmRz4hdniVz9BTTqAaewkrShums-1qwi_e0QPi8YC-J3yR6HAJVeyt55wbg1uGq0odWyy2CUkNwaQa_6LzTqcty5Gg0-Z03crdvnIKT2gjweNi0Y/s1600/to+market.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0TJ99xalgQ-ch3unzR4fInyqPQ3qsmRz4hdniVz9BTTqAaewkrShums-1qwi_e0QPi8YC-J3yR6HAJVeyt55wbg1uGq0odWyy2CUkNwaQa_6LzTqcty5Gg0-Z03crdvnIKT2gjweNi0Y/s320/to+market.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Isn't it adorable? Plus I had gotten the purse handles from Sharon a while ago and I needed a project to go with them. Here's the one that I made:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwQ4Y2jJ6LyaDc1-tgqHEKSJadWfU5ajHCHx-gGPP1_kUphVsz_XpuEwEz44aCDr6WNAYxGSm4GoAfTBRjaujgsJXIcVX_SNKvHEkMLYZDhFbhyXZW3NKP4wuS8dFOtiMSaGOKn6MkFh8/s1600/IMAG0071.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwQ4Y2jJ6LyaDc1-tgqHEKSJadWfU5ajHCHx-gGPP1_kUphVsz_XpuEwEz44aCDr6WNAYxGSm4GoAfTBRjaujgsJXIcVX_SNKvHEkMLYZDhFbhyXZW3NKP4wuS8dFOtiMSaGOKn6MkFh8/s320/IMAG0071.jpg" width="246" /></a></div>
I'm not an experienced purse-maker, but this was definitely NOT easy. I've done lots of zippers before but this one was the hardest. Plus, the last part of the instructions made no sense so I had to rely on my past-bag-making knowledge (ha!). But I got it done. Will I ever make another one? Most likely not!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.beta.photobucket.com/user/belliebuddie2004/media/7-1_zpsa1802321.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img alt=" photo 7-1_zpsa1802321.jpg" border="0" height="81" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/7-1_zpsa1802321.jpg" width="320" /></a>
</div>
As you might be able to see in the above picture, I'm trying to decide on a new paint color for our downstairs. The little strip of light color around the outlet is the old color; I want to go a bit darker this time. There are two swatches on the wall...I think I'm leaning toward the one on the left. What do you think? They're pretty similar, I admit.<br />
<br />
I hope you have a great day! Thanks for stopping by.<br />

Hi everyone! Boy the excitement sure is building, isn't it? Today is my kids' last day of school before Christmas vacation. I got a few last minute things done this morning, so this weekend I can spend with my family and get ready for some happy Christmas travellers. I made my bi-annual trip to the Polish deli to get kielbasa for Christmas morning. We always have that for breakfast, along with eggs, coffee cake and oranges that the kids get in their stockings.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.beta.photobucket.com/user/belliebuddie2004/media/santabar.gif.html" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="30" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/santabar.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
What's for Christmas dinner? We're having a replay of Thanksgiving, pretty much...turkey, mashed potatoes, etc. I was going to make roast beef, but the children don't like it so I'd have to make something else for them. This way everyone will enjoy it. My husband and I went "gluten-free" so it's a little more challenging cooking...not too bad though. We've really seen health benefits from it so it's definitely been worth the change!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

I printed out all the months I didn't get to in <a href="http://www.shabbyfabrics.com/Free-Patterns-W4.aspx" target="_blank">Shabby Fabric's Country Cottages BOM.</a> After the holidays I plan to finish those and get that quilt made. I'd also like to get some table runners and candle mats done...stuff for around the house. I have the fabric for my next quilt all ready to go...isn't this the cutest line? It's called "Posy."<br />

I just love Aneela Hoey's style. Now to find a pattern to go with it!<br />

I feel really bad that I haven't posted in months! Hello, friends! I hope you are all doing well. I just hadn't had much to post, to tell you the truth. But I recently finished a quilt and I thought you might like to see it. It's a Christmas gift for a certain little girl, I can't say who until after December 25!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitFxcvacqSXE30JU6aufbGgA3PNTp32v8L-A00SzKwl3yfFogbSoYspwnV5Ztz1nVxMsdExxTg21JcwF-RzbiziHhG95hT9dWrjHINkl-aLHPyEOeVzukbwpO9IpfDlK189NT2h3jNRE0/s1600/jellyfilled.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitFxcvacqSXE30JU6aufbGgA3PNTp32v8L-A00SzKwl3yfFogbSoYspwnV5Ztz1nVxMsdExxTg21JcwF-RzbiziHhG95hT9dWrjHINkl-aLHPyEOeVzukbwpO9IpfDlK189NT2h3jNRE0/s1600/jellyfilled.jpg" /></a></div>
The pattern I used is <a href="http://thimbleblossoms.bigcartel.com/product/jelly-filled-pattern-124" target="_blank">Jelly-Filled by Thimble Blossoms</a>. I also used <a href="http://www.camilleroskelley.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Camille's</a> fabric for the center of the quilt...a <a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/Marmalade-Bonnie-and-Camille-Moda-Fabrics.asp?Store_Id=499&T=1" target="_blank">Marmalade</a> jelly roll. I just fell in love with the colors! So here it is:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This quilt was fun to put together. I did some in-the-ditch and criss-cross quilting in the middle; then meandered in the outer border.<br />

I also made stacks of potholders to include in teachers' gifts. They were soooo fun to make! And super-duper easy, especially if you start off with a layer cake like I did. Thanks to <a href="http://www.misspunkiepie.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Jen</a> for sending me <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TupfaEb_-A" target="_blank">the link to the tutorial!</a><br />

Well, I hope you liked checking out my latest projects. Again, I apologize for not being around more often. I hate it when bloggers that I follow disappear! I will post more often, I promise. Take care and Merry Christmas!<br />

<b>VERDICT:</b> This is deeeeeeelicious. The hashbrowns crust is genius! One of my all-time favorite GP recipes now. The combination of potatoes, cheese, eggs, ham and green onions is to die for. We had this for dinner along with a salad and some crusty bread. Yum!<br />

<b>VERDICT:</b> Pretty good! The peanut butter/cream cheese layer is a bit too cream cheese-heavy for me; if I make these again, I will only use half the amount of cream cheese. The oats layer is very yummy.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=divider-7.png" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="40" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/divider-7.png" width="320" /></a></div>
OK, now for the final recipe in this review! This one is short and sweet and it's called, <b>"Feel-Good Shake."</b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<b>YOU WILL NEED: </b><br />
2 bananas, sliced<br />
2 Cups milk<br />
2 Cups non-fat vanilla yogurt<br />
1 Cup pineapple juice<br />
1 Tbsp. honey<br />
<br />
Process all ingredients together in a blender until smooth. Pour into a tall glass. Serve immediately. Makes one serving.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b>VERDICT: </b>The serving size printed in the book is incorrect, unless you want to drink one huge smoothie! I cut the recipe <i>in half</i> and I still had enough for four 8-oz. servings. But besides that, this is a very good recipe. I love smoothies and the flavors of this one blend really well together.<br />

The kids and I took the cats to the vet yesterday for their check-ups. They got great reports! I always worry about them drinking enough water though. Cats are known for not getting as much as they should, which strains their kidneys. The vet suggested a water fountain, so we got them this at PetSmart...<br />

I had joined a few months late so it's nice to be on the right month. Feels weird to applique shamrocks in May! Anyway, here's the June block:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://kimsbigquiltingadventure.blogspot.com/">Kim</a> had given me the idea to make a block for the kite and trim it to size (it doesn't say to do that in the instructions). That worked out great. You should check out Kim's progress on this quilt...her blocks are just gorgeous!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

Here's my July one (I need to press it some more, obviously!):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9Es1pfcpv57NiDIzU5rizce6aD1ncn0FMJ5aXzoeWWbh_ha5KJ526_DHLKspgJAiBT3_Tm0ZpSRNiZuN0CsCDS-tUf3L5g1D-NH0loUSivAH0bT2n7-2yJx3afNyTf4TaZuqAyI3NmcU/s1600/DSCN3973.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9Es1pfcpv57NiDIzU5rizce6aD1ncn0FMJ5aXzoeWWbh_ha5KJ526_DHLKspgJAiBT3_Tm0ZpSRNiZuN0CsCDS-tUf3L5g1D-NH0loUSivAH0bT2n7-2yJx3afNyTf4TaZuqAyI3NmcU/s320/DSCN3973.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
When taking these pictures, I realized I forgot to do the last step...the embroidered curly design above the door. So I guess I'm not really done. But that shouldn't take long. And of course all buttons and doodads will be added at the end.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=SummerDriggs_SweetSpringtime_Ribbon2.png" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="34" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/SummerDriggs_SweetSpringtime_Ribbon2.png" width="320" /></a></div>
I went to Joann's last week and picked up a few things.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheND7tiuP7baqf10uYz-uyVIaeOsyX9lhOjzqxHVleLjlqkJYbFPiOUH1fQNzgMW3vMUr6ckON-cgjlkRoHMKguDRoimPTOfuWPHKIir6WUDVDAk9ddo91uChG3rZNI5su4jUE8oj70Ro/s1600/DSCN3968.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="233" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheND7tiuP7baqf10uYz-uyVIaeOsyX9lhOjzqxHVleLjlqkJYbFPiOUH1fQNzgMW3vMUr6ckON-cgjlkRoHMKguDRoimPTOfuWPHKIir6WUDVDAk9ddo91uChG3rZNI5su4jUE8oj70Ro/s320/DSCN3968.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I thought the ladybugs and shamrocks would work out great for this quilt. The shamrocks are felt...cute, right? I needed some floss, and new rick rack for the roof trims. Aren't these fabrics pretty?<br />

Man, they were expensive! And neither one was on sale so they were over $10/yard! But I had two coupons, one for Joann's and one for Hobby Lobby that a fellow shopper gave me. I don't have many orange or gray fabrics....I think these are both Denyse Schmidt? I forget now.<br />

I'm starting my next quilt. I had bought the pattern "Jelly-Filled" from <a href="http://thimbleblossoms.bigcartel.com/">Camille's store</a> awhile ago...and when I saw the previews for <a href="http://www.fatquartershop.com/Marmalade-Bonnie-and-Camille-Moda-Fabrics.asp?Store_Id=499&T=1">Marmalade</a>, I knew that was the fabric I wanted to use. Only problem, it's not being released until October. Luckily, I found a seller on ebay who already had some jelly rolls so I bought one. Cheaper than retail too! Now I can get started sooner rather than later. P.S. It's even prettier in person!<br />

I hope your summer is going well. Things have been busy here. My dad got married at the end of June! He married a wonderful woman who fits right in with our family. It was a beautiful wedding, at a gorgeous spot in Brooklyn. The best part was spending time with everyone. Both of my sisters were there with their families...we had so much fun. We're kind of spread out along the east coast, so it's very rare that we're all together.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=Sewingtools-divider.png" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="50" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/Sewingtools-divider.png" width="200" /></a></div>
My dad is gradually moving into his new wife's house, and there are a lot of things in his apartment that he does not want to bring with him. I was so happy when he said that I could have this Singer sewing table.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX-FoT2Zc3Ke3m6PyK_vMhyti2ZjCK0XBjVnn5oKdx4mMadYmgQp8zNZvbi0aL-tCwHMqM4A5ndWR7wlkKEThgUOhfreNB7kiEbQFd5itnaWkHvA87R8lBfeKvA7qAjwQtwWVYhrnph_A/s1600/DSCN3929.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX-FoT2Zc3Ke3m6PyK_vMhyti2ZjCK0XBjVnn5oKdx4mMadYmgQp8zNZvbi0aL-tCwHMqM4A5ndWR7wlkKEThgUOhfreNB7kiEbQFd5itnaWkHvA87R8lBfeKvA7qAjwQtwWVYhrnph_A/s320/DSCN3929.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This has been in my family for generations. It was originally my great-grandmother's. For as long as I remember, it's been in my parents' house. The little drawers were filled with odds and ends. I always knew I could find an emery board when I needed one.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=Sewingtools-divider.png" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="50" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/Sewingtools-divider.png" width="200" /></a></div>
Unfortunately, the sewing machine is long gone...no one really knows what happened to it. But it's heavy enough as it is. My sister and I brought it down to put in my car; right away, someone asked us if we were getting rid of it. I could see his eyes light up! We had to guard that table every second!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIJBf8dY_Rpt5iaMn6V5I5XU8CfcP_Nk-jW7RlLhfPUWJuHxdwwcHPgvk3gs9Qf978zLDN7yDcJufd0Se0nMj5vwwgwunG5QYSCj4cj6ZrB9yeWKo3zctLMSwlko71E5D6pjfYOHIxLGo/s1600/DSCN3932.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIJBf8dY_Rpt5iaMn6V5I5XU8CfcP_Nk-jW7RlLhfPUWJuHxdwwcHPgvk3gs9Qf978zLDN7yDcJufd0Se0nMj5vwwgwunG5QYSCj4cj6ZrB9yeWKo3zctLMSwlko71E5D6pjfYOHIxLGo/s320/DSCN3932.JPG" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>lamp off</i></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
But I think it found a great home in my dining room. It fits perfectly in this little niche. I added a placemat on top to hide the less-than-perfect top. My dad also let me have the lamp and the painting above it. It's a cozy spot, don't you think?<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBBa4s_rZxPLPSrgNe_WmcaUi_xO6QQRAV5V4dMRaVIWQdnG5rWQDb1gEv5shLmSnbhEmtnVe1-pTn-AkrydUqdGIBr8APxnf0WNaivTKutMzpav4N-cgZrKQZUye6pwJdTfABBtM1zlg/s1600/DSCN3931.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBBa4s_rZxPLPSrgNe_WmcaUi_xO6QQRAV5V4dMRaVIWQdnG5rWQDb1gEv5shLmSnbhEmtnVe1-pTn-AkrydUqdGIBr8APxnf0WNaivTKutMzpav4N-cgZrKQZUye6pwJdTfABBtM1zlg/s320/DSCN3931.JPG" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i>lamp on</i></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Now I get to fill the drawers with bits and baubles. Hopefully my children will know that this treasure will always be filled with treasures, just like it was for me.<br />

I love GP's cookbooks, but the Christmas ones are particularly wonderful. The graphics, tips and memories shared from readers make these fun to just sit and read! Read on to find out how you can win a FREE copy of this great new cookbook! But first, I have tested three recipes and I'd love to share them with you!<br />
<br />
The first one I tried is called "Angelic Scampi." The creator touts this as a healthier version of traditional shrimp scampi.<br />
<b>INGREDIENTS:</b><br />
16-oz. package angel hair pasta, uncooked<br />
2 tsp. olive oil<br />
4 cloves garlic, minced<br />
1 tsp. dried oregano<br />
1 lb. medium shrimp, peeled and cleaned<br />
1/4 Cup white wine or chicken broth<br />
2 tsp. cornstarch<br />
3/4 Cup chicken broth<br />
salt and pepper to taste<br />
<br />
Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and keep warm. Meanwhile, heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic; saute one minute. Add oregano; stir to coat in oil. Add shrimp; saute until pink, about 3 minutes. Pour in 1/4 C. wine or broth; reduce heat and simmer one minute. In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in 3/4 C. chicken broth; add to skillet. Simmer about 2 minutes, until sauce thickens; season with salt and pepper. Transfer cooked pasta to a large serving bowl; pour shrimp and sauce over top. Toss before serving. Serves 4.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguVzZW3vXm-0RmiG-xlFH-dh9-LOR04fCgU_oHd2hekuHDA2FzwUzCBsQNp9Q4NprmhiHAMPU8_8lA4FwHxIKowdGsyFBwB4tJ6GR-lXdmCJiM4PQKmaZMHnx2MIMumvI0e0IouaLjopQ/s1600/DSCN3862.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguVzZW3vXm-0RmiG-xlFH-dh9-LOR04fCgU_oHd2hekuHDA2FzwUzCBsQNp9Q4NprmhiHAMPU8_8lA4FwHxIKowdGsyFBwB4tJ6GR-lXdmCJiM4PQKmaZMHnx2MIMumvI0e0IouaLjopQ/s320/DSCN3862.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span class="commentBody" data-jsid="text"><b>VERDICT:</b> This was pretty good. I appreciated the fact that this is a much healthier version of traditional scampi. Truth be told, I found that I missed the butter...the richness was absent. Plus I love garlic but this was too much. Both my husband and I thought so.</span><br />

OK! One last recipe to share, and it's a good one. If you've been reading my blog, you know I've been having a mini-obsession with Buffalo chicken dip. When I saw a new recipe for this I had to give it a try! It's called, "Blue Cheese & Buffalo Chicken Dip."<br />

<b>INGREDIENTS:</b> <br />
8-oz. package cream cheese, softenend<br />
1/2 Cup blue cheese salad dressing<br />
1/2 Cup favorite flavor mild or hot pepper sauce<br />
1/2 Cup blue cheese crumbles<br />
(2) 12-1/2 oz. cans chicken breast, drained<br />
1 Cup shredded Mexican-blend cheese<br />
crackers, tortilla scoops or sliced veggies<br />
<br />
In a bowl, combine cream cheese, salad dressing and hot sauce. Fold in blue cheese and chicken. <i>(I did not add extra blue cheese chunks, just a bit more dressing. Also, I only had one can of chicken so that's all I used.)</i> Spread in an ungreased 8"x8" baking pan; sprinkle with shredded cheese.<br />

<b>VERDICT:</b> Super yum!! This was spicier than most, since there is a fair amount of hot sauce. It's creamy, thick and the cheese on top adds an extra dimension of flavor. Really, really good. This is now my family's favorite version of this dish!<br />

I had stopped at my LQS last week to pick up some Best Press, and I spotted the pattern "Mallory's Big Box," also from <a href="http://www.thisandthatpatterns.com/patterns_charmpatterns.php" target="_blank">This & That.</a> I've been eyeing it for awhile online, so I grabbed it while I was there. The box was fun to make. The heavy interfacing it calls for makes for some interesting sounds from my sewing machine at times. At the end, when you're supposed to sew four layers of fabric/interfacing together (while sewing the handle on) my needle broke. I switched to a heavy-duty needle, lowered the tension, and I made it through. Next time I think I'll leave the interfacing out of the handle, I don't think it's necessary. I also left off the little pull on the opposite side of the zipper. One brush with a flying broken needle was enough for me. Anyway, here it is...<br />

Speaking of Pam, did you see that she has <a href="http://pamkittymorning.blogspot.com/2012/04/pam-kitty-love.html" target="_blank">a new fabric line</a> that will be premiered next month at Quilt Market? Joy! Pam + Lakehouse is like a dream come true for my fabric tastes. I love her first line so I can't wait to get my hands on the new one too.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=zpearn-hautespring-blog-separator-1.png" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="31" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/zpearn-hautespring-blog-separator-1.png" width="320" /></a></div>
I ended up working on the February block of the <a href="http://www.shabbyfabrics.com/Free-Patterns-W4.aspx" target="_blank">Shabby Fabrics BOM</a> right after January's. If you recall, I was contemplating moving right to March. But laziness won out, and since I had already printed off February's pattern, I went with that one.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp2rxwmosuQwLzleELgTPiwfDgpZAjr6xBNAnxlBfJjMtg3fMv1MTCc7TmzP8W1KllCYJFG4I-KvL6YKJzquNDkXxAihVhBI1b44xuAh3QdhI8XEozLoD4gjsbjUbTYZ_TpmdHp4ICTy4/s1600/DSCN3824.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp2rxwmosuQwLzleELgTPiwfDgpZAjr6xBNAnxlBfJjMtg3fMv1MTCc7TmzP8W1KllCYJFG4I-KvL6YKJzquNDkXxAihVhBI1b44xuAh3QdhI8XEozLoD4gjsbjUbTYZ_TpmdHp4ICTy4/s320/DSCN3824.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This is not pressed and I see a little blue pen still, but you get the gist. Obviously embellishments will be added after quilting. March's block is coming along, then I'll move on to April. One of these days I'll get caught up!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=zpearn-hautespring-blog-separator-1.png" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="31" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/zpearn-hautespring-blog-separator-1.png" width="320" /></a></div>
I went to <a href="http://www.christmastreeshops.com/" target="_blank">Christmas Tree Shops</a> this morning, and guess what I got? Reading glasses! I've been noticing that I have to hold my embroidery right up close to my face, so I figured it was time. I have always wanted to wear glasses. My twin sister got prescription glasses when we were in 5th grade, and I've been jealous ever since. My husband and both kids wear them as well. I just think they're so cute and might make me look a bit smart. LOL Anyway, reading glasses are a step in the right direction. And they were only 5 bucks!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Like I stated in the original post, I had to disregard a few entries if there was no blog name or email attached. Sorry, but I've had people win who have never come back to check, and I had to redraw a number. This way I can contact you if you've won! So out of the 21 qualified entries, my daughter randomly chose number 7, who is...<br />

I hope you all are well. I'm melting a wonderful new wax tart today that I got from <a href="http://can-do-candles.com/" target="_blank">Can-Do Candles & Tarts</a>, called "Mary's Margaritas." Oooh it is so yummy! Love aromatherapy.

It takes me forever to finish a quilt block for a BOM. I think I have a short attention span. I do one thing and then I put it aside to do something totally unrelated. Anyway I finally finished the January block for <a href="http://www.shabbyfabrics.com/Free-Patterns-W4.aspx" target="_blank">Shabby Fabrics' free Block of the Month.</a> I did only start it this month, mind you! I used <a href="http://pamkittymorning.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Pam Kitty Morning's</a> white with yellow dot for the background, which will be the same every month.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I used a variegated DMC floss for the snowflakes. Just a little subtle variation, from cream to pink to yellow...isn't it pretty?<br />

I just love this cute little snowman! Hmmm, maybe it's a snowwoman, with the pink?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I made a few changes from the pattern. I did not embroider window panes, because the fabric was pretty much self-paned. I also did not add snowflakes to the front of the house...I think the polka dots kind of look like snowflakes already. And, I used jumbo rick rack instead of fabric for the eaves. As you can see, I used the fuse-and-blanket stitch method of applique. I was not about to attempt that with all those curves! Eek.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I'll add the doorknob button later. So now I'm not sure if I should just continue in order and go to February, or just pick up on the current month and go back to February (and probably March) when I get to them. I'm leaning towards going back to them later. What would you do?<br />

I must say this is one of my favorite GP cookbooks to date, and I have many! These are recipes for every day; you know, the busy days that you just don't have time to make a from-scratch meal, but you don't want to order pizza again. When I receive a new cookbook, I put sticky-notes on every page that appeals to me; there are MANY in "Simple Shortcut Recipes!" For my review, I narrowed it down to three. The first one I tried is called, <b>"Rainy-Day Meatball Stew."</b><br />
<b><br /></b><br />
<b>INGREDIENTS:</b><br />
3 potatoes, peeled and cubed<br />
16-oz. pkg. frozen sliced carrots<br />
1 onion, chopped<br />
3 stalks celery, sliced<br />
12-oz. pkg. frozen meatballs<br />
10-3/4 oz. can tomato soup<br />
10-1/2 oz. can beef gravy<br />
1 Cup water<br />
1.35-oz. pkg. onion soup mix<br />
2 tsp. beef bouillon granules<br />
<br />
Place vegetables and meatballs in a slow cooker. In a bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients; pour over vegetables and meatballs. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, or until vegetables are tender. Serves 6.<br />
<br />
I did not take pictures for the preparation of this dish...honestly, it was so easy that pictures would be totally unnecessary. But I did take one of my daughter enjoying her dinner!<br />

<b>VERDICT:</b> This gets an A+. It is tasty, very easy, and everybody liked it. I will definitely make it again!<br />

Ok, onto recipe number two...<b>"Kari's Buffalo Chicken Dip."</b> I was really excited when I spotted this recipe, because someone brought a similar dip to a Super Bowl party I went to and I could not get enough! I couldn't wait to make it myself, and this did not disappoint! <i>(NOTE: I made a half recipe, thus the smaller dish and amount of ingredients in the picture; however I printed the recipe as written.) </i><br />
<br />

<b>INGREDIENTS:</b><br />
2 8-oz. pkgs. cream cheese, softened<br />
1 deli roast chicken, boned and chopped<br />
16-oz. bottle blue cheese salad dressing<br />
1/3 Cup hot pepper sauce, or to taste<br />
tortilla chips<br />
<br />
As you can see, I did not use a deli chicken; but for the first time
ever, I used canned chicken. I was suspicious at first but it's all
white meat, with no preservatives...and it looks good! Great to keep in your pantry, which I now do!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEileesKN2mqMC1QuR5ChjpKWOaDbkkz4csd2fkw8WHpgjvSACP6tyUET6vciVjhjfI42rMTE6m9gy2WZRR3ZK35g6Th_GKTN4Vvo9LalVyZOHaPtNJY0-YonE8xMmbRXve0Vi4n3X5pSs8/s1600/DSCN3783.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEileesKN2mqMC1QuR5ChjpKWOaDbkkz4csd2fkw8WHpgjvSACP6tyUET6vciVjhjfI42rMTE6m9gy2WZRR3ZK35g6Th_GKTN4Vvo9LalVyZOHaPtNJY0-YonE8xMmbRXve0Vi4n3X5pSs8/s320/DSCN3783.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Combine all ingredients except tortilla chips in an ungreased 13" x 9" baking pan. <i>(Mine is 8" square.)</i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtz8gt133sRF6lchEVTWNUwsYYWuni-KGOwRxZ8x1N3CoXu3J474TEQ8bHSTlgGR10kvVsrf0gE9PE2XvtgL-chKFw7Z11PuE4WUUrvMfzPEf2Sbbp3GQ2execlQg7_k3KWxX-W6f7Wgs/s1600/DSCN3784.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtz8gt133sRF6lchEVTWNUwsYYWuni-KGOwRxZ8x1N3CoXu3J474TEQ8bHSTlgGR10kvVsrf0gE9PE2XvtgL-chKFw7Z11PuE4WUUrvMfzPEf2Sbbp3GQ2execlQg7_k3KWxX-W6f7Wgs/s320/DSCN3784.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly. Serve with tortilla chips. Serves 12 to 16.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<b>REVIEW:</b> Super duper YUM!! In addition to the tortilla chips, I also cut up celery sticks and cucumbers to serve with it. And, Wheat Thins go great with it too. I'm already dreaming about making this again!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=ATSDivider.png" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="54" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/ATSDivider.png" width="400" /></a> </div>
The last recipe I will review is <b>"Best-Ever Pot Roast."</b> Pot Roast is one of my favorite dishes to make in my crockpot, so I love to try out new versions.<br />
<br />
<b>INGREDIENTS:</b><br />
3 lbs. redskin potatoes, quartered<br />
16-oz. pkg. baby carrots<br />
2 onions, sliced<br />
3-lb. beef chuck roast<br />
1 to 2 Tbsps. oil<br />
10-3/4 oz. can cream of onion soup<br />
10-3/4 oz. can cream of celery soup<br />
1/2 Cup water<br />
Sea salt to taste<br />
<br />
Place potatoes, carrots and onions in a large slow cooker; set aside. In a skillet over medium high heat, lightly brown roast in oil. Place on top of vegetables. Pour soups and water over roast; sprinkle with salt. Cover and cook on low setting for 10 hours. Serves 6.<br />
<br />
<b>REVIEW:</b> As my husband said, this is the BEST pot roast I've ever made! Seriously, the flavors are perfect. I don't have a super-large crockpot so I had to cut down on the amount of veggies I added...even so, it was filled to the top. Cream of Onion soup proved to be hard to find, but they did have it at Walmart. OH! And I did NOT brown the roast first. I didn't have time. It was fabulous without the extra step. <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

How is everyone doing? Are you experiencing nice, warm weather in your neck of the woods? We've been setting record highs in Central New York...today it's supposed to be 74. Unbelievable, but I'm not complaining! The sun is out, the bulbs are coming up, and the birds are singing. It's so nice to have the windows open in March. Love it!<br />

I'm starting a new Block of the Month, albeit a bit late. It's a free one from <a href="http://www.shabbyfabrics.com/Free-Patterns-W4.aspx" target="_blank">Shabby Fabrics</a>, and I just love it. I picked up a few supplies at Joann's this morning, like fusible web and ric-rac. Here are the fabrics I picked out from my stash for January's block.<br />

I have all the background squares cut out. I'm using a white with yellow polka dots from Pam Kitty Morning. I bought it from <a href="http://www.desperatequilters.com/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi" target="_blank">Desperate Quilters,</a> one of my favorite online fabric stores.<br />

Have you done any spring decorating? I have a few things out, but I did get two more items at TJ Maxx today. Isn't this little pitcher cute? I can picture a few blooms from the garden in this, on a side table. </div>

St. Patrick's Day is this weekend! Do you have any big plans? We're going to the annual Maple Festival nearby...it's not very St. Paddy's Day-ish, but what can you do. We'll have corned beef and cole slaw sandwiches for dinner. No one in my family likes corned beef and cabbage except for me, so this is a good compromise!</div>

I haven't posted in awhile, I am sorry about that! Like I told my buddy <a href="http://quiltingisblissful.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Di</a> yesterday, I just haven't been doing much that's blogworthy! The kids were off all last week, so there went any time to myself...plus I've had a couple of colds during February so my energy has been really lacking. But I'm hoping it comes back any minute now! :-)<br />

I HAVE to show you this cute planter and pots I got.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYEWrxJ8JVivns6GxykCQ6GMoF0n_r6xIDSu7zpxQasqsuG1FWbn2dW5qukOnmjLx9U281nW4j4R59T7Ou2saZYDNFZW505M3s4jGfDawN67bZTSUFmGGcBevMRS3XpCV7K_wmVGhHqSA/s1600/planter2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYEWrxJ8JVivns6GxykCQ6GMoF0n_r6xIDSu7zpxQasqsuG1FWbn2dW5qukOnmjLx9U281nW4j4R59T7Ou2saZYDNFZW505M3s4jGfDawN67bZTSUFmGGcBevMRS3XpCV7K_wmVGhHqSA/s320/planter2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Of course Willow had to get in on the action. The planter is from Hobby Lobby, and it was 40% off. I bought the two planters at Christmas Tree Shops today, for $3.99 each.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I love the rustic planter against the shabby chic-ness of the pots. I'm planning to put these on my porch this spring.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-5M-KJ0FIgE4l8Knnne8bjV9kqJAAMnaZ9Lqz-d3AKcl_ZCwLb_knL0Zfxl34xe0ufTcQmbguRpIqWL-guC6_n_tY30T0prSQqLFhzaYAA1tB6f4UMzHstaB81c3g9OCE0gMQnNvacSQ/s1600/lemon+candle.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-5M-KJ0FIgE4l8Knnne8bjV9kqJAAMnaZ9Lqz-d3AKcl_ZCwLb_knL0Zfxl34xe0ufTcQmbguRpIqWL-guC6_n_tY30T0prSQqLFhzaYAA1tB6f4UMzHstaB81c3g9OCE0gMQnNvacSQ/s320/lemon+candle.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I also got this cute, yummy-smelling candle at Walmart today! Less than five bucks, can't beat that!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=zpearn-hautespring-blog-separator-2.png" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="49" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/zpearn-hautespring-blog-separator-2.png" width="320" /></a></div>

I must say, I don't mind this day of the week. I get the house back in order after the weekend, catch up on laundry and grocery shopping, etc. I like to re-establish some sense of order. Although I did tackle a cleaning project over the weekend...I cleaned out my side of our bedroom closet. I have two big garbage bags full of clothes and shoes to donate. I found a pair of black wool pants that taper at the ankle and go up past my belly button. I think those are just a tad outdated! Other things were in there for many seasons without being worn, so out they go. I did save a few sentimental outfits...the suit I wore to my wedding rehearsal dinner; the suit I wore to Dave's med school graduation; and bridesmaid dresses for my sisters' weddings. But they don't take up too much room. Anyway it's MUCH neater in there!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=line20.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/line20.gif" /></a></div>
Today I ran a bunch of errands...Wegman's, HomeGoods, gas, mall, and the library. Since tomorrow is Valentine's Day, I bought a pack of strawberries. The kids and I make chocolate-covered strawberries every year. It's so easy and SO much cheaper than buying them pre-made. Here's the recipe I use:<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><i>Chocolate-Covered Strawberries</i></b></span><br />
16 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips<br />
2 Tbsps. vegetable shortening<br />
1 lb. fresh strawberries with leaves<br />
Sprinkles, mini M&Ms, colored sugar, flaked coconut, or other coatings (optional) <br />
<br />
Wash and dry strawberries. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Holding them by the leaves, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture. Rotate berries to make sure they are covered. Let excess chocolate drip off. Spoon coatings of choice over each berry. Place on wax paper-lined cookie sheets. Allow to cool and store in refrigerator.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

Last week I bought a few spring items at <a href="http://www.christmastreeshops.com/" target="_blank">Christmas Tree Shops.</a> Isn't this bird cloche adorable? Plus it was only $7.99!<br />

On Saturday, I made a great recipe called, "Rainy Day Meatball Stew." I can't wait to share this and other recipes with you...this may be one of my favorite GP cookbooks ever! It is filled with dishes I want to make. So stay tuned for that!<br />
<br />
Enjoy your day, and Happy Valentine's Day (a day early)!<br />

What's going on? Today's Groundhog Day, and Mason and I watched the live coverage in Punxsutawney, PA this morning. Have you seen the movie, Groundhog Day? That is one of our family favorites! Annabelle and I watched it on Tuesday while she was home with a cold...they do the groundhog scene just like in real life.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-98vQVh_6Df0se32p9AP-tEQfgomE57T-NtNj220DULwCZ2aNo15jcMMzqhEQAFNUGnCUXnEyjycGa_sozD9lf21l9xxFVFeVvO4dL67OxlnrKVZiL-Eox7bbkrWp0MP6ev6IplNVOcA/s1600/groundhog+day.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-98vQVh_6Df0se32p9AP-tEQfgomE57T-NtNj220DULwCZ2aNo15jcMMzqhEQAFNUGnCUXnEyjycGa_sozD9lf21l9xxFVFeVvO4dL67OxlnrKVZiL-Eox7bbkrWp0MP6ev6IplNVOcA/s320/groundhog+day.jpg" width="207" /></a></div>
Anyway, I've been doing some more embroidery, in the cutest kitchen designs. Here's an example:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijYTYABMQzhKM0pIoyA9f-gSFrAbgbG5oJivDv3JrQBAfWzVOMx6JIC8UGXWxsAzQMDHpznpuRQY5iGkmjjNdxgGdUthOIyrByJk2JhgrnVBmfb8e9e3YAvOF-KCORwF1AqneIeKIn58M/s1600/DSCN3757.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijYTYABMQzhKM0pIoyA9f-gSFrAbgbG5oJivDv3JrQBAfWzVOMx6JIC8UGXWxsAzQMDHpznpuRQY5iGkmjjNdxgGdUthOIyrByJk2JhgrnVBmfb8e9e3YAvOF-KCORwF1AqneIeKIn58M/s320/DSCN3757.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This is going to be a gift so I don't want to go into detail, but I'll show you the completed project when all is said and done. Love me some stitching!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=divider-6.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/divider-6.gif" /></a></div>
I tried out a new-to-me recipe from Gooseberry Patch yesterday, called Jalapeno Chicken Chilli. It was delicious! Here's the recipe from their facebook page:<br />
<br />
<b>Jalapeño-Chicken Chili</b><br />
<br />
<span class="photo_right"><img alt="" class="photo_img img" src="http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/403925_10150495223195667_123503490666_9092861_542274408_a.jpg" /><span class="caption"></span></span><b> </b><br />
<b>4 15.8-oz. cans Great Northern beans</b><br />
<b>2 c. chicken, cooked and cubed</b><br />
<b>1 onion, chopped</b><br />
<b>1/2 c. red pepper, diced</b><br />
<b>1/2 c. green pepper, diced</b><br />
<b>2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely diced</b><br />
<b>2 cloves garlic, minced</b><br />
<b>1-1/2 t. ground cumin</b><br />
<b>1/2 t. dried oregano</b><br />
<b>3/4 t. salt</b><br />
<b>1/4 c. water</b><br />
<b>1/2 t. chicken bouillon granules</b><br />
<b>1 to 2 c. salsa</b><br />
<br />
Stir
together undrained beans and remaining ingredients except salsa; spoon
into a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low setting for 8 to 10 hours, or
on high setting for 5 hours. Add salsa during last hour. Before serving,
stir well to blend. Serves 8.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=divider-6.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/divider-6.gif" /></a></div>
Tonight I'm making Greek chicken pitas. It's so simple...just marinate a few chicken breasts in Greek marinade; bake and slice. Fill pitas with cucumber yogurt sauce (Mix plain yogurt, dill weed, lemon juice, salt and pepper), feta cheese, Greek olives, lettuce tomato and the chicken...yum!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=divider-6.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/divider-6.gif" /></a></div>
While food shopping today, I found the cutest jars of candy sticks...for just $1.99! Had to get a jar.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeP8QFGpiUedeKwbUsi6wl82WF78rYUM_O8xqHOdWiNLFN6yyBPdR6CroEut0skuOjaX69x5sbkuugLHo29pvp-ctsm0J4FKYy4JE31FB-aJmqFnDiGqFUkUZSq4aCFg2ko4839mUzZk4/s1600/DSCN3740.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeP8QFGpiUedeKwbUsi6wl82WF78rYUM_O8xqHOdWiNLFN6yyBPdR6CroEut0skuOjaX69x5sbkuugLHo29pvp-ctsm0J4FKYy4JE31FB-aJmqFnDiGqFUkUZSq4aCFg2ko4839mUzZk4/s320/DSCN3740.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I finished that cute little bird pillow from <a href="http://www2.gooseberrypatch.com/gooseberry/products.nsf/v.weball/n313?editdocument&lid=is_n313&cartprocess=pimgsr" target="_blank">this book!</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8HF9ZquEzAElh4uK9OFEHFkjvdKB58eHv3pJydGvbJlolIwLuzOHwISq4CfqtGx0bDErUF-lhhXiGXsuot6sxK7uSUSGB3iGsHAPvcgtzBM6vAPSTqd8ij1vXo66Xrp4Y8Y_96V_iyac/s1600/embroidery.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8HF9ZquEzAElh4uK9OFEHFkjvdKB58eHv3pJydGvbJlolIwLuzOHwISq4CfqtGx0bDErUF-lhhXiGXsuot6sxK7uSUSGB3iGsHAPvcgtzBM6vAPSTqd8ij1vXo66Xrp4Y8Y_96V_iyac/s1600/embroidery.jpg" /></a></div>
It was a very fun project. The embroidery was a pleasure, and so was the applique...although I did change up the flowers a wee bit. The smallest one was supposed to have appliqued petals, but I didn't want to deal with teeny-tiny pieces of fabric so I just embroidered it and made the next-biggest one applique.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpkwcvTXjSKz9JOM7gYvdqmIF8b90PGBSkIX1nxz2ORJNK4P0XS5zQ-aHepemAUsbFQr1UfQ7rD5FIEn3MNhmIVmzlvwJuHA9wrL7-qI3hgobejiK4CCDHepQWIXS6_8gSwwIjYXq7-Iw/s1600/DSCN3744.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpkwcvTXjSKz9JOM7gYvdqmIF8b90PGBSkIX1nxz2ORJNK4P0XS5zQ-aHepemAUsbFQr1UfQ7rD5FIEn3MNhmIVmzlvwJuHA9wrL7-qI3hgobejiK4CCDHepQWIXS6_8gSwwIjYXq7-Iw/s320/DSCN3744.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Plus I used buttons for all the flower centers....some of the ones on the pattern are satin-stitched, which is a stitch I dread. I did it for this half a bud...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXUWfvBHXTwPYuokmszJfw5Dcssw0s-kvvRA7Ov_OGD5KNOdnXeYw4mvGOTAtW1qfIH4oRTuUpVAtCs8wgiTlDFo7jLaNpcpVhuplQwwMxJurvSdPLFFbyD_ikcEynaJ5v8Zsa6oEB5wk/s1600/DSCN3742.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXUWfvBHXTwPYuokmszJfw5Dcssw0s-kvvRA7Ov_OGD5KNOdnXeYw4mvGOTAtW1qfIH4oRTuUpVAtCs8wgiTlDFo7jLaNpcpVhuplQwwMxJurvSdPLFFbyD_ikcEynaJ5v8Zsa6oEB5wk/s320/DSCN3742.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
...but for anything else, especially a circle...no thank you. To me, it is a deceptively difficult stitch. The welting was a bit tricky but I think it's worth it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_7qTk2mhhcH3eEzrgime7Nc_KkWsj65HH6ZdUBN22BdqguMkT6vgBwzDOrcFpa_Vs00oxe9QFelnANBZ4o9K7-VsBirdaCqhyQ65yLP_oZDbeNiVwmRd52d1yHntl1ebdLqPTxYM1AKM/s1600/DSCN3745.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_7qTk2mhhcH3eEzrgime7Nc_KkWsj65HH6ZdUBN22BdqguMkT6vgBwzDOrcFpa_Vs00oxe9QFelnANBZ4o9K7-VsBirdaCqhyQ65yLP_oZDbeNiVwmRd52d1yHntl1ebdLqPTxYM1AKM/s320/DSCN3745.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
So that's it! hope you like it. It adds a nice little touch of sunshine, I think. <br />

Tomorrow, January 23rd, is <a href="http://www.piecouncil.org/Events/NationalPieDay/" target="_blank">National Pie Day!</a> Long-time readers of this blog know that we've been celebrating this "holiday" for several years now. Quiche would be a good choice too!<br />

I used to make these cookies all the time. This recipe used to be on the back of the Quaker Oats container...but somewhere along the line, they changed it. The current one they use is okay, but this old one is the very best. Luckily I copied it down years ago, and I thought you might like it too.<br />

Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; mix well. Stir in oats and raisins; mix well. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet <i>(I like to line the pans with parchment paper).</i> Bake 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown.<br />

Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack. Makes about 4 dozen.<br />
*Bar cookies: Bake 30-35 min. in ungreased 13" x 9" metal baking pan.<br />

They're soooo yummy! I had more pictures of the cooking process but for some reason Blogger kept wanting to turn them sideways. Ugh! Anyway, if you try them I hope you enjoy them too!<br />

Remember I said I was making the <a href="http://www.savingmoneylivinglife.com/2010/06/chicken-spinach-pasta-bake.html" target="_blank">Chicken & Spinach Pasta Bake </a>a week or so ago? It was delicious! I found the recipe through Pinterest. Here's what it looked like, fresh out of the oven...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6StMyFqe6WpMPwzLeNaMvK31lO1dQo5NXEhoU3r1f204nt18yAkOc3X08bsXqh45-IItlTaIcTgYvTRnwUPXlD7QaFHS2gC2FiTUIaVjTB2HO3KDVRH-YV7LTIJBPcmB5bVReFMknvvo/s1600/DSCN3716.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6StMyFqe6WpMPwzLeNaMvK31lO1dQo5NXEhoU3r1f204nt18yAkOc3X08bsXqh45-IItlTaIcTgYvTRnwUPXlD7QaFHS2gC2FiTUIaVjTB2HO3KDVRH-YV7LTIJBPcmB5bVReFMknvvo/s320/DSCN3716.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
It was sooo tasty. I used a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, so it was super easy.<br />
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=valentine08-li1.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="50" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/valentine08-li1.gif" width="320" /></a><br />
I felt like I needed a little "boost" earlier this week, so I bought this new lipstick...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4U8Vg5NOVFjDOd3ld5EIOHdp21fKZNtNLqVweSolul75gpjbS7D0NLmKlktVsw96YffpLxn8xSW8FDsHv14vAO64wFLSsEZzHHDwrtdsdri0CSAYhXsfYaHfAP9BnrTJZPVPb5c_P9Wk/s1600/DSCN3720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4U8Vg5NOVFjDOd3ld5EIOHdp21fKZNtNLqVweSolul75gpjbS7D0NLmKlktVsw96YffpLxn8xSW8FDsHv14vAO64wFLSsEZzHHDwrtdsdri0CSAYhXsfYaHfAP9BnrTJZPVPb5c_P9Wk/s320/DSCN3720.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Seriously, isn't that the sweetest packaging you've ever seen? And lipstick with a heart built right in? So cute! It's a little bit too "pink" in real life but it's a good layer-er.<br />
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=valentine08-li1.gif" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="50" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/valentine08-li1.gif" width="320" /></a><br />
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these recipes! Talk to you soon!<br />

I hope everyone had a great weekend! My kids have off today, and Friday was a snow day, so they get a four-day weekend. We had some friends over on Saturday night, and they own a fabulous chocolate shop called <a href="http://www.lunechocolat.com/Welcome.html" target="_blank">Lune Chocolat.</a> They brought over a NINE POUND chocolate-peanut butter cake for dessert that was soooo good. It was a really fun night, plus their kids slept over so Annabelle and Mason were in seventh heaven.<br />

We have such mild temps, and very little snow. Weird for central New York! Oh well, I'll take it. It is unusual to see grass in January, that's for sure!<br />

I've been doing a teeny bit of decorating for Valentine's Day. This is a little vignette over my sink.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnPIVc6wH6iTpUEZ_UUX-Q_nrjidUhJBIN8uZiU5zFwSOuCJ3eJaKD8e_dgoWH17-kXtcD-9e7gBA8JwDl1cCGeG82nSTJC3CsVyMmdidck9CUvSQZ4OtC3YTc3Kpn95aNDxC47q0LZ40/s1600/DSCN3702.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnPIVc6wH6iTpUEZ_UUX-Q_nrjidUhJBIN8uZiU5zFwSOuCJ3eJaKD8e_dgoWH17-kXtcD-9e7gBA8JwDl1cCGeG82nSTJC3CsVyMmdidck9CUvSQZ4OtC3YTc3Kpn95aNDxC47q0LZ40/s320/DSCN3702.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I've had the Welcome plate for awhile, but Dave got me the bird jewelry holder and the milk jug measuring cup set for Christmas. So I've got a little white-theme going here...grounded with a red heart placemat.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/?action=view&current=heartdividerx.png" target="_blank"><img alt="Photobucket" border="0" height="73" src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad116/belliebuddie2004/heartdividerx.png" width="320" /></a></div>
I went to <a href="http://www.christmastreeshops.com/" target="_blank">Christmas Tree Shops</a> this morning...seems like I haven't been there in a long time! I got the cutest little birdhouse cloche. Only $2.99! I filled it with some mini candles from Bath and Body Works.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

That's a Valentine table topper<a href="http://jensfunlittlethings.blogspot.com/2010/02/finished-em-both.html" target="_blank"> I had a made a couple of years ago.</a> <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

Last year I had gotten a few heart placemats at CTS, just in a different pattern. I couldn't resist getting two of the coordinating pattern. And you can't beat two for $3.00!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Guess what? I started a sewing project! Thank you, thank you. It felt so good to get back in there, pick out a pattern and fabrics, etc. I'm working on the bird pillow I showed you...<br />
